When doing a modern bathroom remodel, here are a few things to keep in mind

You’ve probably heard the old saying, “Measure twice – cut once,” and nowhere is that sentiment more true than in your modern bathroom remodeling project. Bathroom remodeling demands careful planning and lots of important decisions. Choosing the perfect modern bathroom vanity or even the right sink can be a daunting task because of the many, many options available. Also, unless you’re a master contractor, plumber, and electrician, you’ll need to get a few estimates in each of those areas as well before you do anything.

Whether you’re doing a complete overhaul and tearing down the existing space to allow for a brand spanking new modern bathroom, or you’re rehabbing some aspects of your space, there are a few important things that you should definitely NOT do.

The Bathroom Remodeling CAUTION List

STOP! Don’t do it alone!

It may seem as simple as shutting the water off, taking out the old sink and popping in a new modern bathroom vanity, hang a few pictures and you’re done; but that is not the case! Remodeling your bathroom involves plumbing. You must make sure your new modern bathroom faucet fits in your old bathroom space, or if you plan to move things around, you’ll of course have to move the pipes around as well. That’s not child’s play so unless you earn your living moving rerouting pipes, please, don’t do it on your own.

Begin your bathroom remodel on paper first. Lay it all out. Measure. And then…measure again. Once you know how you want things, its time to figure out what things to get and how to get them in your space. Here’s the part where you get a professional opinion. Many plumbing companies offer free estimates. Take advantage of that service.

Rome wasn’t built in a day!

Take your time. Look around. Shop your items carefully. If you see something in the store, take a picture of it and then go home. Look online. Use keywords like: modern bathroom vanity; modern bathroom sink; modern bathroom remodeling tips, modern bathroom vessel sinks.

See what comes up.

Read a lot. The last thing you want to do is make ill-informed decisions and then find out later on that you could have gotten something cheaper or better or both.

Call a Professional for the Install!

New toilet? Great! Want it to work? Then call in the professional plumber. When you buy furniture and its delivered to your house, all you have to do is remove the tag and start using it. As beautiful as the modern toilet can be, it isn’t furniture and you can’t just stick it in your bathroom and start using it. If you don’t have plumbing know-how, then call someone that does. If you don’t, you might find yourself with big problems. This advice goes for the sink and faucet too.

Even though a modern bathroom remodeling project may seem a bit costly, its also an excellent investment in your home and your quality o flife. Besides, chances are, if done right, you’ll probably get an almost 100% return on that investment. So choose your pieces wisely. Choose your contractors wisely and through it all, keep in mind that when its completed, your modern bathroom paradise awaits you.
