Options In Glass Bathroom Sinks

As the date gets closer for your bathroom rehab, you inevitably come to decision time on certain key items, like the sink. There are so many sink choices out there, that it can be very confusing. You have to decide not only what style and size bathroom sink you want, but you have to decide on a very basic thing like what material you want your new bathroom sink to be made out of.

Most sink types fit in with one type of style or decor or another, but few are so varied that you can find one to fit any style. But the glass bathroom sink is exactly what I just described. You can find a glass sink to fit literally any style or decor. Going minimalistic and modern? A clear glass bathroom sink would be ideal for that look! or perhaps you are looking for a lot of color and flash. In that case an ornate colorful glass sink would fit the bill.

As I said, there are many different kinds of glass bathroom sinks available, but to add to your choices you must consider all the different styles within this one category. Do you want a bathroom pedestal sink, or maybe a glass vessel bathroom sink? Both can be stunning, but it always comes down to matching and enhancing the look you are trying to achieve in your bathroom. A drop in type glass bathroom sink is both stylish and eye catching, but also more subdued than a very colorful glass vessel bathroom sink would be. So always remember to consider the overall look you want, then make the sink a part of that style.

Some people really like the idea of some kind of glass sink in their bathroom, but are afraid of the glass breaking. This is really something you should not spend a lot of time worrying about. Modern techniques in glass making have taken the strength concern out of your decision making when it comes to sinks. There are ways to break pretty much any sink if you try hard enough, but when it comes to glass sinks there are two main ways a sink is normally damaged. The first way is to improperly install the drain on the sink. You can break the glass around the drain area if you do this the wrong way. If in doubt, have a professional handle the installation for you. The other way a glass sink can be damaged is by something called thermal shock. Thermal shock occurs when extreme temperature changes are introduced to glass. For example, maybe you have your sink full of ice and are icing down drinks and continue to do this for an extended period of time so the glass gets very cold. If you were to suddenly take the ice out f the sink and then dump a pot of extremely hot water in the sink, you run the risk of thermal shock. Obviously, what I described is not a real world situation, especially for a bathroom sink. My point is simply that you can damage glass bathroom sinks, but you really have to think outside the box and try hard in order to do it!

So when the time comes to make your choice for your bathroom sink, consider one of the glass variety, then look at all the different styles, colors, and  sizes of glass bathroom sinks available and choose the one that will have people talking about it long after leaving your bathroom!
